Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to SimpleGantt WBS (“we”, “our”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the work breakdown structure builder at wbs.simplegantt.net.
SimpleGantt WBS is part of Simple Gantt and uses the same account. If you also use the Simple Gantt application at simplegantt.net, the Simple Gantt Privacy Policy governs your use of that site.
The project is operated by:
Maciej Dębiec
Poland
If you have any questions, you can contact us at: hello@simplegantt.net
2. Information We Collect
a) Information You Provide
You can use the WBS builder without an account and without giving us anything. If you choose to create one, we collect:
- Email address
- Your name, as you enter it or as provided by Google Sign-In
- Your Google profile picture, if you sign in with Google
b) Your Work Breakdown
The project, tasks, and subtasks you type into the builder are treated differently depending on whether you have an account. See section 4 — in short, while you are signed out they never leave your browser.
c) Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the site, we may automatically collect certain information, such as:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Device type
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
This data is collected using cookies and similar technologies, and only with your consent where consent is required — see section 5.
3. Use of Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide the builder and store your work if you have an account
- Keep you signed in across SimpleGantt WBS and Simple Gantt
- Communicate with you (e.g., account emails, product news)
- Understand how the tool is used so we can improve it
- Ensure security and prevent misuse
4. Your Work Breakdown
a) Without an account
Everything you build while signed out is stored only in your own browser, using its local storage. It is not transmitted to us, it is not stored on our servers, and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data — or using the Clear button in the builder — deletes it permanently, and we hold no copy to restore from.
b) With an account
When you create an account or log in, the work breakdown open in your browser at that moment is saved to your account, and your projects are then stored on our servers so you can return to them from any device. From that point on it is stored and backed up like any other account data.
c) Sending a breakdown to Simple Gantt
Choosing “Plan your project” copies your project, tasks, and subtasks into the Simple Gantt application, where they become a project on a timeline. Both apps belong to the same operator and use the same account, so no data leaves our control — but your content is copied from one product into the other, and from then on your use of it there is governed by the Simple Gantt Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Nothing is copied unless you ask for it.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies in three categories on this site:
- Strictly necessary – required to keep you signed in and keep your session secure (Supabase authentication cookies). These are set on the simplegantt.net domain so that one login works across both SimpleGantt WBS and Simple Gantt. They are always active and cannot be disabled, as the Service cannot function without them. The work breakdown you build while signed out is also kept in your browser's local storage, which is not a cookie and is never sent to us.
- Analytics – PostHog, used to understand how the builder is used so we can improve it.
- Advertising – Google Ads, used to measure the performance of our marketing campaigns — for example whether a visit that came from an ad led to an account being created.
Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you accept them via the cookie banner shown on your first visit — whether or not you are signed in. You can decline just as easily as you can accept, and you can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie Settings” link at the bottom of this page. Declining does not affect your ability to sign in, save your work, or use any feature of the Service.
6. Analytics and Advertising
We use the following third-party tools:
- PostHog (hosted in the EU) – product analytics
- Google Ads – to measure and improve advertising performance
PostHog records which pages you open and which actions you take in the builder — for example adding a task, exporting a picture, or sending a breakdown to Simple Gantt. It does not record the names you type into your work breakdown.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the Service:
- Supabase – authentication, database, and hosting of your account data
- Vercel – website hosting and delivery
- PostHog (hosted in the EU) – product analytics
- Google (Google Ads) – advertising measurement
8. Data Retention
Work you build without an account lives in your browser and is kept until you clear it; we never receive it, so there is nothing for us to retain.
Account data is retained for as long as your account exists, and beyond that only as long as necessary to:
- Provide services
- Comply with legal obligations
- Improve our product
9. Your Rights (GDPR)
As a user in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Object to processing
- Withdraw consent at any time (cookie consent can be withdrawn instantly via the “Cookie Settings” link at the bottom of this page)
- Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. If you are in Poland, this is the Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO) — uodo.gov.pl. If you are elsewhere in the EEA, you can complain to your own country's authority instead.
To exercise your rights, contact us at: hello@simplegantt.net
10. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Access to your stored projects is restricted to your own account at the database level.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
